How do I schedule an appointment?

Prior to our first visit, we will have a short phone consultation to determine presenting concerns, goals, and to help ensure we will work well together. During this call we will schedule our first appointment. I will then e-mail you the new client paperwork, which includes access to your client portal, consent forms, policies, and information about you. I encourage you to fill out the electronic documents prior to our first appointment so we can maximize our time together.

What is the first appointment like?

Every first session is different because it is guided by you. Clients find that they quickly settle in, feel welcome, and are put at ease. Throughout the session I listen, reflect, and validate as I gather relevant information related to your history, goals, and objectives. I also like to collaborate about potential therapeutic approaches, frequency of sessions, set goals and begin to track progress if applicable. I encourage clients to ask questions and share concerns about the counseling process. Your feedback helps me to provide you with the best possible individualized approach.

What are your fees?

My rate is $180 for the initial session and $160 for follow-up appointments (55-60 minutes). Some clients prefer to schedule 90 minute sessions to minimize time required away from work or travel to and from my office, and come less often per month, especially if you are traveling from out of town (Telehealth is also an option).

Do you accept insurance?

Most clients with private insurance are reimbursed for a portion of the session costs through filing for out of network benefits. This is especially true if you are seeking therapy for an issue I specialize in because it may be difficult to find an experienced in-network provider. Some even have similar or better out of network coverage than in network due to high deductibles or high copays. I provide the appropriate documentation and assistance to file for out of network benefits. If you are curious why I chose to no longer be an in-network provider, click HERE to learn more.

How often should I come?

We will discuss an appropriate frequency based on the presenting concerns and adjust based on your progress. Attending sessions should never require more of your time and resources than is therapeutically beneficial (you won’t be in therapy forever). While brief therapy may be 3 - 5 sessions, most clients meet their initial goals within 16-22 sessions. Therapy extends beyond that time frame as clients set new goals along the way, usually completing their work within 1 year. Most commonly, clients begin with a handful of weekly sessions, then move to twice a month, and then eventually transition to once a month until they feel they can maintain progress on their own.

What is your office like?

I strive to create a comfortable, calming, home-like environment, rather than a setting that feels like an office. Clients can sit on the sofa or a more supportive leather chair. The down filled pillows are comforting to hug or place in your lap, and soft blankets offer extra comfort. If meditation and relaxing is your thing, my office also has a yoga mat that we can incorporate when appropriate. Spiritual practices are also welcome, upon client request and direction. The waiting room offers a coffee, water, and tea bar, as well as magazines, comfortable seating, and warm, welcoming decor.

Where do I go for appointments?

If we are meeting in person, my office is located behind Red’s at the end of Ridgeway Dr. The building is almost exclusively leased by other private practice therapists, which provides the right setting for your comfort. An interactive map to my office is located on the Connect page. My office is on the third floor. The elevator brings you directly to the public lobby and public restrooms are located within. Once you exit the elevator, take the double doors to your left and walk straight down the hallway to the right. Suite 310 is at the end.
